General
// KiwiCoding basics
What age should my child start learning coding?+
We recommend all children aged 7–18 learn at least one coding subject. We have courses designed for every level — from total beginners aged 6 to advanced teens aged 18.
Where is KiwiCoding based?+
We're based in Auckland, New Zealand. All our classes are online via Zoom, so students from anywhere in the world can join.
What are your operating hours?+
Our main support team is online 09:00–17:00 New Zealand Time, Monday to Sunday. We also have after-hours support engineers available 17:00–21:00 NZST. You can also reach us on Facebook or via our contact form.
What languages do your tutors speak?+
All our tutors speak English. Many of our tutors are also bilingual and can teach in Mandarin, Cantonese, and other languages. Contact us if you have a specific language requirement.
What classes do you offer?+
We offer: Scratch, Python 2D, Python 3D, Python Game Design, HTML & JavaScript, Database, Machine Learning & AI, Data Analysis, Web Scraping, Face Recognition, App Design, Automation, Raspberry Pi, and more. See our Courses page for the full list.
Online Editors
// Python 2D, 3D, and HTML editors
What is the Python 2D Editor?+
Python 2D is a full Python 3 coding environment that runs 100% in your browser — no installation needed. It supports all standard Python plus Turtle graphics (a GUI library for drawing shapes and animations). Try it here →
What is the Python 3D Editor?+
Python 3D is an online system where students can create 3D objects and animations using Python code, rendered live in the browser. Great for visual learning and STEM projects like building a 3D solar system or a spinning Rubik's cube. Try it here →
Does the editor use AI to write code for students?+
No — and this is intentional. Our editors have no AI autocomplete or code generation. We believe students learn much more effectively when they write and debug their own code. This builds genuine understanding, not just copy-paste habits.
What devices do the editors work on?+
The editors work on any modern browser — Windows, Mac, Ubuntu Linux, and even iPad. We recommend a computer with a keyboard and mouse for the best coding experience, but a tablet works too.
What is the HTML & JavaScript Playground?+
It's a live web editor where students write HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and instantly preview their webpage in the browser. No install needed. Great for learning front-end web development. Try it here →
Courses & Classes
// Scheduling, tutors, requirements
Is there a free trial class?+
Yes! Every new member gets one free trial class. It's completely free — no credit card required. Book yours here →. The session usually starts within 2–4 weeks depending on availability. Our team will reply within 1 week.
What software do we need?+
Just Zoom for the live session, and a modern web browser for coding. Our editors run entirely in the browser — no Python install, no IDE setup required. We recommend: a computer with keyboard and mouse, headset with mic, and optionally an external monitor.
How long is each session?+
All sessions are 60 minutes: 50 minutes of tutoring and hands-on practice, followed by 10 minutes of summary and Q&A.
What's the background of your tutors?+
All our tutors hold Bachelor, Master, or Doctoral degrees from top universities worldwide. 90% work as professional coders at Fortune 500 companies. Every tutor passes our thorough subject-matter training and has demonstrated child psychology and teaching skills.
My child already codes — which course should they start?+
We'll assess your child's current skills in the free trial class and create a personalised learning plan. We have courses from total beginner all the way to machine learning and AI.
Can we apply for leave or make-up classes?+
Yes. Leave applications must be submitted to the tutoring administrator at least 1 day before class. Make-up classes can be scheduled to replace the missed session.
Is there homework?+
It depends on the course. Some classes include optional homework, but it's designed to be completed in under 1 hour. The goal is reinforcement, not stress.
Misc & Extras
// Referrals, payments, tutoring jobs
How does the referral bonus work?+
Refer a friend who is new to KiwiCoding and when they sign up for a class, you earn $50 off your next payment. There's no limit — the more you refer, the more you save! The bonus is applied as a direct deduction from your next class payment.
Is there a sibling discount?+
Yes! Siblings of existing students enjoy a 10% discount. Contact us when enrolling a sibling to have this applied.
What payment methods do you accept?+
We accept bank transfer, Credit Card, PayPal, WeChat Pay, and AliPay. Contact us if you have a specific payment requirement.
Do you support after-school programs?+
Yes! We have collaborations with many schools and support after-school coding programs. Fill in our contact form with details and we'll respond within 1 week.
Can I become a KiwiCoding tutor?+
We're always looking for talented tutors! Send your LinkedIn profile or resume via our contact page. Tutors earn NZD $20–50/hour depending on experience. We'll respond within 2 weeks.
